NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Marist Red Foxes women's swimming and diving team competed in their first dual meet of the 2008-09 season on Thursday night at Fordham University. The Red Foxes fell to 0-1 in dual meet action, after they dropped the meet by a score of 143-95.
Junior Jenell Walsh-Thomas (Lenape, N.J.) won two individual events, the 1,000-yd. freestyle with a time of 10:36.44, and the 500-yd. freestyle with a time of 5:11.53. She also anchored the Marist College 400-yd. freestyle relay team of freshmen Caroline Skjong-Nilsen (Palmetto Bay, Fla.), Emily Hammang (Barrington, R.I.) and Walsh-Thomas. Their time was 3:46.91.
Senior co-captain Savannah Puca (Huntington, N.Y.) won the 200-yd. breast stroke with a time of 2:30.61. Puca was also a part of the 400-yd. medley relay that finished in third place. Her relay team consisted of freshman Sandra Bujalski (Thomaston, Conn.), and freshman Michelle Fountain (Sayville, N.Y.). Their finishing time was 4:04.18.
The Red Foxes will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 1 when they host a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) dual meet against Rider. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
