POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - For the third time in six years, the Marist women's lacrosse team is playing for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship. The Red Foxes will take on top-seed Fairfield on Sunday at noon at Mazella Field in New Rochelle, N.Y. The Red Foxes will be looking for their first NCAA Tournament berth in program history.
Earlier this season, the Stags defeated the Red Foxes 11-10 in overtime at Tenney Stadium in the MAAC opener for both squads. After dropping their first game of the season, Fairfield has won a remarkable 17 straight games.
Last season, Marist rolled over Fairfield 13-8 in the tournament semifinal.
The Red Foxes advanced to the final with a 15-10 win over third-seed Canisius on Friday afternoon. Fairfield won an 11-8 decision of fourth-seeded and host Iona.
