POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist women's water polo team moved to 17-6 on the season on Saturday, winning their first two MAAC Water Polo League games over Siena and Iona at the McCann Center. The Red Foxes defeated the Saints 15-4 in the first game of the day, then beat Iona 13-11 in the senior day game. Junior 2M Katelin McCahill (East Grand Rapids, Mich.) led Marist with five goals against Siena, as senior Maggie Hatcher (Evanston, Ill.) matched that total to lead the Red Foxes in scoring against Iona.

Marist took an early 3-1 lead on Siena after one quarter as McCahill, Hilary Schroeder (Santa Barbara, Calif.), and Angie Rampton (Simi Valley, Calif.) each scored for Marist. The Red Foxes added three more goals in the second to take a 6-2 lead at halftime. Marist continued to pour it on in the second half, as McCahill scored three of the Red Foxes' five goals in the third quarter to give them an 11-4 lead. The Red Foxes' defense shut out Siena in the fourth, adding four more goals for a 15-4 win. Hatcher and sophomore utility Samantha Swartz (Harleysville, Pa.) each had a pair of goals in the win.

In their second game of the day, the Red Foxes led wire to wire in a 13-11 win over Iona. Maggie Hatcher and Elizabeth Davis (Albuquerque, N.M.) were honored prior to the start of Marist's second game.

Marist (17-6, 2-0) will host the MAAC Water Polo League teams again tomorrow. The schedule is as follows:
