POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Marist head men's basketball coach Chuck Martin announced the signing of Dorvell Carter to a National Letter of Intent to attend Marist in the fall of 2008 on Tuesday. Carter is a 6-foot-6, 185-pound product of traditional New York City power Rice High School.
"He's a really, really good kid," Martin said. "We really like his basketball IQ, unselfish play and great size for a perimeter player. We're excited to have him. With hard work, he can turn into a very, very good player in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference."
Carter helped lead Rice to a 26-4 record this past season and the Archdiocesan AA championship. He was named Second Team All-City by the New York Daily News, and was an All-Catholic High School Athletic Association Honorable Mention choice. He averaged 11 points and seven rebounds per game this past season.
Carter played his AAU ball for the famed New York City Gauchos.
