Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Marist women's tennis team opened up their fall season at the Stony Brook Classic hosted by Stony Brook University, on Friday. The squad competed against Stony Brook, Southern Mississippi and the University of Alabama, in solely doubles action.

In the match against Stony Brook, Erin McCarthy (Salem, N.J.) and Emily Zampello (Kingwood, Texas) and Kayla O'Donovan (Lynnbrook, N.Y.) fell 1-8.

Against Southern Mississippi, the Red Foxes just one game in each of the first and second doubles spots, while being held at love in the third doubles slot.

In their third doubles competition against Alabama, the two doubles teams of McCarthy and Colon, and Zampello and O'Donovan fell 2-8 and 3-8 respectively.

The Stony Brook Classic will continue on Saturday, with play set to begin at 9 a.m.
