POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Sophomore attack Corey Zindel (Randolph, N.J.) earned his first MAAC Lacrosse League Offensive Player of the Week award on Monday. Zindel scored five goals in Marist's 7-6 overtime winner of preseason MAAC favorites Canisius at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field on Saturday.
His fifth goal was the game-winner at the 1:53 mark of overtime. Zindel currently leads the MAAC Lacrosse League in assists and points per game, averaging 2.33 assists and 4.33 points per game. He has had at least three points in all three of Marist's games this season. He had five points in the Red Foxes' season opener against Vermont on Feb. 28.
Marist closes out its brief two-game homestand on Tuesday, March 17 with a 4 p.m. game against Fairfield at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field.
