VESTAL, N.Y. - The Marist women's swimming and diving team won four events but lost a dual meet with Binghamton 167-133 on the road on Saturday afternoon. In addition to winning the 200-yd. medley relay, the Red Foxes got wins from freshman Bonnie Orr (Fresno, Calif.), and sophomores Kate Conard (East Setauket, N.Y.) and Katie Larkin (Huntington, N.Y.). Sophomore Chelaine Eliazar (Honolulu, Hawaii) swept the diving events.
Eliazar finished the 1-meter event with a score of 216.39 and claimed the 3-meter board with a mark of 214.80.
The Red Foxes jumped out to an early lead in the meet as Marist won the 200-yd. medley relay. The foursome of Conard, Larkin and freshmen Emily Miles (Long Valley, N.J.) and Maddie Arciello (Missoula, Mont.) finished the course with a time of 1:51.14.
Marist continued its strong start as Orr won the 1,000-yd. freestyle in the next women's event. She finished with a time of 10:43.47.
Following seven straight wins by Binghamton, Larkin and Conard notched back-to-back wins for Marist in the 200-yd. breaststroke and the 500-yd. freestyle. Conard swam to a final time of 2:28.74.
Conard finished the 500-yd. freestyle with a time of 5:03.47. Orr came in second as Marist took the top two spots in the event with a time of 5:16.31.
Marist will return to the pool at the H20unds Invitational hosted by Loyola University Maryland. The Red Foxes will swim against Iona, Loyola and Saint Peter's on Dec. 3-4. Competition begins at 4 p.m. Friday afternoon at the Mangione Aquatic Center.
