BURLINGTON, VT. - The Marist women's lacrosse team fell behind 8-0 almost 25 minutes in to Saturday's game at Vermont Saturday, eventually falling 14-7 to the Catamounts. Lauren Ciccarello (Wantagh, N.Y.) and Jori Procaccini (Long Valley, N.J.) each had two goals for the Red Foxes.
Marist (2-4) finally got on the board with 2:52 to go in the first half as Erin Wilson (Ada, Mich.) put a Ciccarello pass into the back of the net. Vermont (2-4) led 9-1 at halftime when Ciccarello opened the scoring in the second, scoring 51 seconds into the half. The Catamounts led by as many as 10 goals in the second half when Procaccini and Morgan Dillon (Freeport, N.Y.) each scored within a 4:32 span to make the score 13-7.
Vermont outshot Marist 19-4 in the first half and 26-17 for the game. Marist held a 14-9 edge in draw controls, with the Catamounts collecting 18 ground balls to the Red Foxes' 16.
Marist continues its current four-game road trip on Saturday, March 27 with a 12 p.m. game at Colgate.
