Marist Releases 2010 Football Schedule

March 24, 2010

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist Athletics Department released the 2010 football schedule on Wednesday. The Red Foxes will play six of their 11 games at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field this season, including a Friday night season opener against Sacred Heart on Sept. 3 at 7 p.m.

In its second year as a member of the Pioneer Football League (PFL), Marist will have eight contests against league opponents.

Marist will start the season with three consecutive home games. After hosting Sacred Heart, the Red Foxes will face Bucknell on Saturday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. The team will have a bye in Week 3, and will then open its PFL slate against Morehead State on Saturday, Sept. 25. All of the Red Foxes' home league games this season will start at noon.

"We're excited for the start of the 2010 season," said head coach Jim Parady, who is entering his 19th season as head coach and 20th season at Marist. "We're looking forward to having six home games in front of our great fans in the Hudson Valley, and our second season in the Pioneer Football League affords great opportunities for travel and competition."

In October, Marist will have a stretch of four road games in five weeks, with all games coming against PFL opponents. The Red Foxes will play at Drake (Oct. 2) and Valparaiso (Oct. 9) in consecutive weeks before taking on San Diego on Oct. 16, which will be Homecoming Day. Marist will then head back to the road to take on Jacksonville (Oct. 23) and Campbell (Oct. 30) to close out the month.

The Red Foxes will finish their league schedule with back-to-back home games in November, as they will host Davidson on Nov. 6 and Dayton on Nov. 13. Marist will then conclude the regular season with a non-league game at Georgetown on Nov. 20.

All four PFL teams the Red Foxes will host this season - Morehead State, San Diego, Davidson and Dayton - will be making their first trip to Poughkeepsie.

Last season, Marist had a 7-4 overall record and a 5-3 mark in Pioneer Football League play. The Red Foxes tied a program record with seven wins, and set a record by enjoying a six-game winning streak.

Marist will open Spring Practice on Friday, March 26, and will have its annual Spring Game on Saturday, April 24 at 7 p.m. at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field. All practices as well as the Spring Game are free and open to the public.
