HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Marist women's lacrosse team led Colgate 11-8 with 15:28 to go in Saturday's game at Tyler's Field, only to see the Raiders score six unanswered goals for a 14-11 win. The Red Foxes' loss is their fifth in a row. Lindsay Rinefierd (Smithtown, N.Y.) led Marist with three goals, as Ariel Kramer (Syracuse, N.Y.) had four points on two goals and two assists.
Colgate (5-5) took a 2-0 lead 5:23 into the game on goals by Quincey Spagnoletti and Courtney Miller, each of which were assisted by Kate Bergstrom. Marist (2-5) got on the board with 24:25 remaining in the first half on Rinefierd's first goal of the game, making the score 2-1. The Raiders then scored three straight goals to take a 5-1 lead with 9:22 to go in the first. The Red Foxes answered with a 3-0 run of their own. Morgan Dillon (Freeport, N.Y.) each scored to get Marist within one, 5-4, with 5:27 left in the half. Colgate went up by two with 27 seconds left, but Kramer scored with eight seconds left in the half to make the score 6-5 at halftime.
The Red Foxes then scored three more goals to start the second half. Lauren Ciccarello (Wantagh, N.Y.) scored back-to-back goals at the 24:21 and 23:02 marks to put Marist ahead 8-6. Kramer then added her second goal of the game with 22:18 to go, making the score 8-6. After Megan Lawler scored at the 19:52 mark to get the Raiders within one, 9-8, Rinefierd and Condon each scored to put Marist ahead 11-8 with 15:28 to go. That's when Colgate started its run back into the game. Greer Goebels scored two goals 26 seconds apart to get the Raiders within one, 11-10, with 13:12 remaining. Miller then scored with 10:46 to go to tie the game 11-11. Colgate then took the lead 12-11 with 9:33 left in the game on a Meghan Lawler goal. The Raiders added two more goals in the last two minutes to get the 14-11 win.
Marist outshot Colgate for the game 33-28, and had 14 draw controls to the Raiders' 13. Each team collected 27 ground balls and had 23 turnovers. Colgate goalie Christina Roa made 13 saves, while Marist's Alyssa Littin (Coronado, Calif.) had eight saves. Miller led the Raiders with five goals, while Lawler had three goals and four assists.
The Red Foxes conclude their four-game road trip on Tuesday with a 3 p.m. game at Lehigh.
