POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Marist freshman attack Connor Rice (Penfield, N.Y.) was named the MAAC Lacrosse League's Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday. He shared the award with Brett Schmidt of Mount St. Mary's. Rice had six points last week in games against #16 Lafayette and Canisius.
This is Rice's second conference honor of the season. He was named Offensive Player of the Week on March 29 after recording five goals and three assists in Marist's win over Saint Joseph's on March 27. Rice started the week with two goals and an assist against Lafayette last Tuesday at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field. He matched that performance at Canisius on Saturday, scoring the go-ahead goal in the fourth quarter of Marist's 9-6 win which put the Red Foxes at 4-0 in the MAAC Lacrosse League. Rice has recorded 20 points over Marist's last five games on 14 goals and six assists.
Marist returns to action on Wednesday, April 21 with a 3 p.m. game at Siena.
