POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Junior Patrick Duggan (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) of the Marist men's track and field team won the 5,000-meter run at the Matthew Vassar Open, held at Vassar College, on Friday. Duggan ran 15:44.82 to pace four Red Foxes who finished in the top five.
Sophomore Colin Johnson (Clark, N.J.) placed fifth in 16:33.09. Johnson also ran the 3,000-meter steeplechase, and finished second in 10:47.75.
Freshman Michael Keegan (Huntington, N.Y.) set a personal best by over 30 seconds in the 10,000-meter run, as he finished second in 33:33.32. In the same event, freshman Will Schanz (Latham, N.Y.) finished fourth in 34:19.29, and freshman Brendan Green (Bemus Point, N.Y.) was sixth in 36:13.76.
In the 800-meter run, sophomore Trevor Thomas (Montgomery, N.J.) finished fourth in 2:03.52.
Marist will return to action at the 2010 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, which will be held on Saturday and Sunday at Rider University in Lawrenceville, N.J.
