The Marist water polo team was defeated by Bucknell 10-7 in their final game at the ECAC Championships on Sunday. Junior Jaclyn Puccino (San Diego, Calif.) and sophomore Shelby Rinker (Lansdale, Pa.) each scored three goals to lead the Red Foxes.
Marist trailed by a 2-1 margin at the conclusion of the first quarter, before each team scored two goals apiece in the second quarter, making the score 4-3 Bucknell at halftime.
After being shutout in the third quarter, surrendering four goals to the Bison, the Red Foxes surged in the fourth quarter. Despite outscoring Bucknell by a 4-2 margin in the fourth quarter, Marist's comeback fell short, with the final score reading 10-7 in favor of the Bison.
Senior Rosie Pauli (Sacramento, Calif.) scored her team-leading 16th goal of the season for the Red Foxes.
The Marist water polo team returns to action Saturday, March 5 at the Princeton Tournament. Their first game is scheduled for 11 a.m. against Maryland, and game two is set for 4 p.m. against Indiana.
