POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Marist College announced the hiring of Jana Bradley as the new assistant coach for Jessica O'Brien and the Marist women's lacrosse program. Bradley joins the Red Foxes after serving as a student assistant coach at the University of Oregon.
Bradley was a four-year member of the Oregon Ducks women's lacrosse program from 2005 to 2008. A member of the Ducks' inaugural class of 2005, she finished her career with a place amongst the leaders in the Oregon record books. A four-year starter, Bradley's 111 career goals are second all-time. In addition, her 135 career points rank fourth all-time. During the Ducks' record 13-win season in 2008, Bradley was third in the goal-scoring column with 28 scores.
After exhausting her playing eligibility, she remained at Oregon to complete her degree and was named a student assistant coach for the 2009 season. She was charged with assisting in the organization of offensive skill sets. The 2009 Ducks' team finished with a 12-5 record and outscored their opponents by over three goals a game. The Ducks finished the season with 208 goals, 92 assists and a 39 percent shooting percentage.
When announcing the hiring, O'Brien said "Jana has already made an instant impact to the team with her positive coaching philosophies. Her experiences as a player and undergraduate assistant at the University of Oregon will help to further develop our program. I am thrilled to have her join our family here at Marist."
Bradley received her degree from the University of Oregon in 2009 with a degree in journalism and sociology.
The women's lacrosse team is looking to repeat its MAAC Championship form from 2010. Returning many key members, the Red Foxes are primed for another successful season, under O'Brien. Their season begins with a home matchup with Lehigh on Saturday, Feb. 19.
