Final Stats
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - In the final road contest of their four consecutive games away from Poughkeepsie, the Red Foxes lost by a score of 11-8 to the Yale Bulldogs. In a game that saw three substantial goal streaks, Marist was led by juniors Jori Procaccini (Long Valley, N.J.) and Kelly Condon (Roslyn, Pa.) who finished with four goals and three assists, respectively.
Yale began the scoring in the first half with a quick goal by Kelsea Smith at the 27:42 mark in the first half. Marist responded a little over two minutes later with a goal by freshman Tierney Larson (Fairfield, Conn.) at 25:41. This was her first goal of her collegiate career. Yale took back the lead with a two goal run to stretch the lead to 3-1 at the 19:31 mark. Starting with a Procaccini goal of a Condon assist at 18:29, the Red Foxes went on a 6-0 run through 7:39. Procaccini was on the receiving end of passes from Condon (2) and Larson, as she scored three more goals during the streak. She notched her markers at 16:41, 15:44 and 7:39. Sophomore Ashley Miller (Montville, N.J.) and freshman Jamie Romano (Kings Park, N.Y.) picked up the other two goals for Marist. Miller's was off a pass from sophomore Megan Walters (Garden City, N.Y.), while Romano's was off a free-position shot. Yale closed the half with two goals to put the score at 7-5 at half.
Building of their two goal streak to end the first half, the Bulldogs' offense came out clicking in the second period. Yale tied the game up at 7-7 with 19:23 remaining. A Romano goal at 14:21 put an end to the four point swing, and took back the lead for Marist. Starting with a Myra Trivellas' free position goal at 8:21, Yale finish the game with a four goal streak. After 60 minutes of play, Yale was victorious by a score of 11-8.
The Red Foxes will next be in action on Wednesday, March 16 as they host Stony Brook for a 3 p.m. contest.
