Final Stats

ALBANY, N.Y. - The Marist women's lacrosse team lost to #19 Albany 17-8 in a hard fought game at the University of Albany's John Fallon Field. Juniors Ariel Kramer (Syracuse, N.Y.), Shannon Haas (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and Kelly Condon (Roslyn, Pa.) led the Red Foxes' offense with two points a piece.

Albany started off the scoring quickly as they put two shots in the back of the net in the first four minutes of the game. Sophomore Ashley Miller (Montville, N.J.) got the Red Foxes on the board at 21:38 when she converted a free position shot. After four minutes of holding Albany's potent offense, who came into the game averaging 13.00 goals per game at bay, a Jodi Battaglia goal started a 7-0 run that would stretch from the 17:03 to 5:56 mark. Marist responded at 3:39 as Condon shot a sharp pass to Haas, who put home a one-timer to bring the score to 9-2. Taylor Frink's second goal of the first half closed out the scoring at 10-2 after 30.

The second half began fast for the Red Foxes as Kramer scored Marist's third goal of the game at 29:02. Two more quick goals by Condon at 26:39 and Kramer at 25:20 closed the gap to 10-5. The streak was aided by the Red Foxes winning the first four draw controls, as well as keeping UAlbany without a structured offensive set until 24:50. Frink's third goal of the game started another goal streak as the Great Danes scored five to stretch the lead out to 15-5. Junior Jori Procaccini (Long Valley, N.J.) notched her first goal of the game on a successful spin move at 14:41. The final 10 minutes closed out with each team scoring two goals. Haas picked up her second of the game at 7:41 with a free-position goal. Freshman Jamie Romano (Kings Park, N.Y.) got on the scoreboard at 2:01. After 60 minutes of action, Albany was victorious 17-8.

For the game, Marist was outshot 31-16, but won 16 draw controls to Albany's 11, as well as converted two of three free-position shots.

Kramer's goal extends her scoring streak to 10 games. Romano's goal keeps the fast start of her collegiate career going as she has notched a goal in every game so far this year.

The Red Foxes will next be in action on Saturday, March 12 as they travel to Yale for a 11:30 a.m. contest.
