Men's Basketball On The Road At Columbia For 7 P.M. Matchup

The Marist men's basketball team will compete in its final non-conference road game before heading to Orlando and the 2012 Old Spice Classic. On Saturday evening, the Red Foxes (0-2) will matchup with the Lions of Columbia (2-0) in a 7 p.m. matchup. This is a rematch of last season's 79-59 Marist victory on Dec. 28.

Marist vs. Columbia ...

This will be the sixth-ever matchup between Marist and Columbia.

The Red Foxes are 4-1 all-time versus the Lions.

This is Marist's first trip to New York City to play in Columbia's home gym.

The first three games of the series were played inconjunction with of Pepsi Marist Classics, while the fourth was a part of the 2008 Holiday Festival at Madison Square Garden.

Red Foxes & Lions - Dec. 28, 2011 ...

On the strength of a 26-6 run in the second half the Marist men's basketball team (6-7) cruised to a 20-point victory versus Columbia (7-5) in a home meeting.

That run from 16:33 until 6:40 would be highlighted by three three-pointers, four blocks by Adam Kemp, two charges drawn by Manny Thomas and a stretch of 6-7 shooting from the field. Chavaughn Lewis led the way offensively with 10 points as Marist pushed its lead to 19 at 65-46.

Devin Price led a quartet of Red Foxes in double figures with 22 points. He was joined in double figures by Lewis with 18 points, Kemp with 12 and Thomas with 10. Kemp led the squad with nine rebounds and six blocks.

Marist vs. Ivy League ...

The Red Foxes are 12-9 all-time versus current Ivy League schools: 4-1 vs. Columbia, 3-2 vs. Cornell, 2-0 vs. Harvard, 1-1 vs. Penn, 1-1 vs. Brown, 1-2 vs. Dartmouth, 0-2 vs. Princeton. They've never played Yale.

Last Time Out ... Nov. 14 at Colgate ...

Marist fell on the road to a game Colgate squad by a score of 74-60.

With the score 10-9 early in the host's favor, the Red Foxes would go cold from the field and allow Colgate to stretch its one point lead to 18 on the strength of a 19-2 run from 13:45 to 6:31.

Devin Price was Marist's leading scorer with 17 points, while junior Adam Kemp registered his second straight double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds in his home-coming game.

For the game, Marist was outshot 46.6 (27-58) to 41.3 (19-46) and 45.5 (5-11) to 21.4 (3-14) from three.

Scouting Columbia ...

The Lions come into Saturday with a 2-0 record after wins over Furman (68-47) and Haverford-D3 (74-40). Statistically, they are led by a trio of double-figure scorers in Alex Rosenberg (12.5 ppg, 6.0 rpg), Steve Frankowski (11.0 ppg, 3.0 3PTM) and Brian Barbour (10.5 ppg, 6.0 apg).
