EDISON, N.J. - Marist men's lacrosse junior attack man Connor Rice (Penfield, N.Y.) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday for his efforts in the Red Foxes 12-10 season opening victory over Sacred Heart on Sunday.
Rice had five points, on two goals and three assists to lead the Red Foxes offense on Sunday. He took five shots, good for second on the team, four of which were on net. The Preseason All-American has now registered a point in all 31 games of his collegiate career, the eighth longest active streak in the nation.
This is the seventh weekly award for Rice in his career. He was named Offensive Player of the Week three times last season as a sophomore and once during his freshman campaign. He was also named MAAC Rookie of the Week twice that year, en route to being named the 2010 Rookie of the Year and an All-MAAC Second Team selection. He was named to the First Team following last season.
The Red Foxes (1-0) return to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. as they will travel to play Stony Brook. Marist will play their next three games on the road before their home-opener on March 17 against Jacksonville.
