BOSTON - Marist Men's
Basketball freshman Chavaughn Lewis (Queens, N.Y.) was named on Tuesday to the
CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Freshmen All-America Team. A MAAC All-Rookie Team
member, Lewis was one of 25 student-athletes named to the nationwide squad.
Lewis, Marist's all-time leading freshman scorer with 460
points, was an explosive scorer for the Red Foxes, who notched double digit
scoring efforts in 27 of his 32 games and in each of his final 20. After
initially coming off the bench as the team's sixth man, Lewis joined the
starting lineup for the final 12 games and averaged 17.1 points and 5.7
rebounds per game. Overall for his freshman season, he had well-rounded
averages of a team-high 14.4 points, with 4.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.
An asset on the defensive end of the floor, as well, Lewis led the team with
1.7 steals per game and had the second most total blocks with 25.
