Water Polo Drops Two Games Saturday At Triton Invite

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. - The Marist water polo team dropped a pair of games against top-ranked opponents Saturday at the Triton Invite, hosted by UC-San Diego. The Red Foxes fell to #5 Arizona State by a 14-4 score before dropping a 13-5 decision to #15 Loyola Marymount.

Marist (0-3) stayed close with Loyola Marymount, trailing just 3-2 after the first quarter on goals by Hannah Levien (Davis, Calif.) and Robyn Crabtree (Cutler Bay, Fla.). Marist was outscored however 7-0 over the second two quarter as Loyola Marymount pulled away. Freshman Ellie Hoffman (Pasadena, Calif.) scored her first two career goals in the fourth quarter and Jessica Hamby added a score.

In the Red Foxes' first game of the day, Crabtree scored three times and Levien added a goal, but Marist could not overcome a tough first quarter, falling to the fifth-ranked Sun Devils.

Marist plays two more games out west on Sunday to wrap up the Triton Invite. The team's opponents will be determined based on the results of other matches played on Saturday.
