POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Marist Athletics Department released the football team's 2013 schedule in its entirety on Monday. The Red Foxes will play five games at Tenney Stadium in the upcoming season, which will be their fifth as a member of the Pioneer Football League (PFL).
The season will begin with the earliest home opener in program history, as Marist will host Sacred Heart on Aug. 31. The Red Foxes did not face the Pioneers last season, but the teams met for 10 consecutive years from 2002-11.
The following week, Marist will play its first road game against Bucknell. It will be the ninth straight year the Red Foxes and Bison have faced each other, which is Marist's longest active rivalry.
Marist's will conclude non-league play one week later at Georgetown. It will be the 16th all-time meeting between the Red Foxes and Hoyas, which is the highest total of anyone on Marist's schedule.
Following a bye, the Red Foxes will play against PFL foes for eight consecutive weeks, starting on Sept. 28 at Dayton. Marist's home games will be against Valparaiso (Oct. 5), first-year PFL member Stetson (Oct. 26), Jacksonville (Nov. 2) and first-year PFL member Mercer (Nov. 16). In addition to Dayton, Marist's road PFL contests will come against San Diego (Oct. 12), Davidson (Oct. 19) and Campbell (Nov. 9). The entire PFL schedule was released in December.
Game times will be released at a later date.
Marist is in its final week of Spring Practice. The program's annual Spring Game will be held on Saturday, April 27 at 6 p.m. at Tenney Stadium. Admission is free.
