ESPNU, ESPN3 To Air USA Women's Basketball Games At 2013 Summer Universiade

KAZAN, Russia. – Fans could have an opportunity to watch Marist women's basketball head coach Brian Giorgis in action as an assistant coach for Team USA at the 2013 World University Games. ESPNU and ESPN3 will air 115 live hours of the Summer Universiade, including the women's basketball semifinals and gold medal game.

ESPNU will carry the second semifinal on Saturday, July 13, at 1 p.m. ET. The United States will be in this semifinal if it finishes first in its pool and wins its quarterfinal game. The gold medal game will also air on ESPNU, live at 1:30 p.m. ET on Monday, July 15 and will also re-air again at 9 p.m. on Monday. ESPN3 will air both of Saturday's semifinals, with the first one being played at 10:30 a.m., as well as Monday's gold medal game.

The United States will play open its preliminary round in Pool B on Monday, July 8 against Mali at 12:30 p.m. ET. The Red, White and Blue will then play the Czech Republic on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. and Brazil at 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday. For the complete schedule, please click here.

Following the preliminary round, the first and second placed teams in each of the four pools will advance to the medal quarterfinals to compete for 1st-8th place, while the remaining teams will compete for 9th-24th place.

ESPNU will air 40 hours of competition that will include the United States Men's & Women's Basketball, Men's & Women's Beach Volleyball, Track & Field, Men's Volleyball (indoor) and Men's Water Polo teams in action abroad. ESPN3 will carry all 115 hours live, that will include additional coverage of the aforementioned sports as well as: Opening Ceremonies, Men's & Women's Diving, Men's & Women's Gymnastics, Swimming.

ESPN networks will air 14 events featuring some of the nation's best collegiate athletes, over 11 days. Every event will be aired live on either ESPNU or ESPN3, with primetime re-airs on ESPNU to account for the time difference.
