EDISON, N.J. – Marist red-shirt freshman guard Khallid Hart (Newark, Del.) was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the fifth time this season on Monday.
Hart's award total is top among MAAC rookies. He was previously honored on Dec. 16, Dec. 23, Jan. 6 and Jan. 13. His five awards are the most by a Red Fox in the last six seasons.
Hart averaged 14.7 points and while playing nearly 35 minutes per game in Marist's three games last week. Hart also converted .452 percent of his attempts from the field and .824 from the free-throw line, and contributed 3.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.0 steals per game.
In Marist's win over Saint Peter's on Jan. 20, Hart had 15 points, four rebounds and three assists while going 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. He totaled 12 points, three assists, three rebounds and a steal while shooting 4-for-7 from the field and 4-for-5 from the free-throw line at Niagara on Jan. 24. At Canisius on Jan. 26, he scored 17 points and had a career-high four steals.
On the season, Hart is second on the team in scoring at 13.6 points per game, and is shooting .817 from the free-throw line. He has scored in double figures in nine straight games, and has recorded a steal in 13 straight.
The Marist men's basketball team (6-14 overall, 3-7 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) returns to action on Thursday, when the Red Foxes host Monmouth (10-11, 4-6). Tip-off at McCann Arena is set for 7 p.m.
