ESTERO, Fla. -- The Marist men's basketball team (0-4) will play its final game of the Gulf Coast Showcase on Wednesday, as the Red Foxes will take on Fresno State (1-4) in the tournament's seventh-place game at Germain Arena. Tip-off is set for noon.
Marist suffered a 62-55 loss to Hawaii on Tuesday. The Red Foxes trailed by 21 in the first half before roaring back thanks to a 31-11 run over a span of 14 minutes. Senior Chavaughn Lewis led Marist with 24 points and nine rebounds. Lewis is now in fourth place in program history with 1,592 career points. Junior forward Phillip Lawrence scored a career-high 11 points.
Fresno State has lost its first two games of the Gulf Coast Showcase by identical scores of 58-52 to Evansville on Monday and to East Carolina on Tuesday. Red-shirt junior guard Julien Lewis, a transfer from Texas, leads the team in scoring at 16.4 points per game.
Following Wednesday's game, Marist will return to action on Monday, Dec. 1 at Boston College of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m., and the contest will air on ESPN3.
