WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Marist women's team fell to West Point, 7-0 on Saturday. Sophomore Karly Pang (Kaneohe, Hawaii) was defeated by Della Taylor, 6-4, 6-0. Gabriella Spindler was another winner for Army with a 6-0, 6-3 win over freshman Callie Morlock (Golden, Colo.). Senior Marielle Campbell (Patterson, N.Y.) fell to Maya Parker, 6-0, 6-2.
Sophomore Lisa Ventimiglia (Bayside, N.Y.) was defeated by Army's Ally Hayley, 6-1, 6-3. Red Fox sophomore Melissa Carlay (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) put up a tough fight before succumbing to Nan Porter, 6-4, 6-3. In the final singles match of the day, Marist sophomore Katie Seitz (Pennington, N.J.) lost to Caroline Lorenzini, 6-2, 6-3.
The Black Knights would continue to get the best of Marist in the doubles matches as the sister duo of Elle and Della Taylor defeated Morlock and Carlay, 8-0. Campbell and Seitz were defeated by West Point's Jamila Paul and Carolyn Pitman, 8-3. Pang and sophomore Nikki Rohan (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) gave it their all in a close 8-5 decision that ended in favor of Army's Carly Riney and Margaret Iliev.
The Red Foxes will next be in action this Saturday as they head south to face Manhattan in their MAAC opener. The match is set to begin at noon.
