HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -?The Marist women's lacrosse team (3-2) fell to Hofstra (3-2) on Friday evening, 9-3. Juniors Jackie DiMaria (Dix Hills, N.Y.), Emily Leonard (Brookfield, Conn.) and sophomore Allison Gionta (Easport, N.Y.) had one goal each for the Red Foxes.

Hofstra opened up the game with back-to-back goals to take a 2-0 lead with 14:40 to go in the first half. DiMaria scored off a free-position shot at the 11:20 mark to cut the Pride's lead to one. Hofstra scored two more goals to close the half to take a 4-1 lead heading into the locker room.

Gionta opened up the second half with a goal for the Red Foxes as Marist trailed Hofstra 4-2 at the 29:40 mark. Hofstra scored one more to push ahead 5-2 with 22:07 to go. Leonard netted her lone goal of the game at the 20:37 mark, assisted by sophomore Kara McHugh (Madison, Conn.) as Marist trailed Hofstra 5-3.

The Pride closed the game with four more goals to defeat Marist, 9-3.

The Red Foxes return to action on Wednesday, Mar. 12 at Bucknell. The game is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
