POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Senior quarterback Ed Achziger of the Marist football team was named College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District on Thursday.
Achziger is a Business Administration major who has been named to the Pioneer Football League (PFL) Academic Honor Roll each of the previous three years.
Achizger has made seven career starts at quarterback for the Red Foxes. He has appeared in five games this season, which include two starts.
Recipients of the award must have spent at least two semesters at their current institution while having a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale.
The Marist football team (4-4 overall, 3-2 PFL) returns to action on Saturday, when it hosts Stetson (2-6, 1-5) at 1 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are available for sale on GoRedFoxes.com. The first 1,000 fans will receive a bobblehead of Terrence Fede, the first former Marist football player to be selected in the NFL Draft and appear in an NFL game.
