VESTAL, N.Y. -  The Marist men's lacrosse team (2-0) powered past Binghamton on Feb. 22 to remain unbeaten in the 2015 season.

Seniors Drew Nesmith (Montclair, N.J.) and Colin Joka (Conshohocken, Pa.) scored four goals apiece to lead the offense, while junior Dominic Montemurro (Kings Park, N.Y.) scooped up a game-high six ground balls. 

After a pair of man up goals tied the contest at 1, senior Mike Begley (Brookeville, Md.) and sophomore J.D. Recor (Lancaster, N.Y.) teamed up to lead the Red Foxes on a 3-0 run. Begley netted an unassisted goal in between helping on Recor's two scores to end the first quarter. The Bearcats had pulled ahead 7-5 by the end of the second quarter. 

Marist outscored Binghamton 7-2 in the second half beginning with Nesmith's third goal of the game at the 12:34 mark in the third quarter. Joka followed with a man up goal and scored consecutive goals at the beginning of the fourth quarter to put the Red Foxes ahead for good.

For the second straight game, senior Dave Scarcello (Buffalo, N.Y.) made 14 saves in goal. Montemurro was dominant in the faceoff X, winning 15 of the 23 draws he took. Marist's defense picked up 25 ground balls to Binghamton's 21 in the contest.

Sophomore Sean Gilroy lead the Bearcats with four goals, while senior Tucker Nelson had three assists. In goal, freshman Sam Sanko made seven saves.

The Red Foxes' will face off against Stony Brook in their home opener at 7 p.m. March 3 in Tenney Stadium. Marist has never lost to the Seawolves under Head Coach Keegan Wilkinson.
