BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Marist men's lacrosse team (5-2, 2-0 MAAC) overcame a four-goal deficit in the first quarter to take down Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference foe Canisius, 9-7, on March 21. The game featured four ties and three lead changes.

Junior Joseph Radin (Long Beach, N.Y.) notched his 100th career point by scoring a goal at the 6:53 mark of the third quarter to put the Red Foxes ahead 7-6. He led the Marist offense with a hat trick and two assists.

Senior Mike Begley (Brookeville, Md.) netted a pair of goals and collected four ground balls, while classmate Dave Scarcello (Buffalo, N.Y.) made nine saves in goal.

The contest was tied at the end of each of the first three quarters before Marist's defense held Canisius scoreless for the final frame, including 1:00 on a man up opportunity. Freshman Gannon Morrison (Cary, N.C.) and Radin each scored goals in the fourth quarter for the Red Foxes.

Canisius built a 4-0 lead before Begley put Marist on the board with 4:15 left in the first quarter. Begley's score ignited a 5-0 run for the Red Foxes, which concluded when senior Drew Nesmith (Montclair, N.J.) fed Morrison for a goal.

The Griffins clawed back with a man up goal from junior Billy Jacobbi at 14:13 to open the third quarter and give them a 6-5 advantage. It was the final time Canisius held the lead however.

Senior Tim Edwards was dominant in the faceoff X for the Griffins, going 14-for-19. He also scooped up a game-high nine ground balls. Senior Alex Govenettio made eight saves in the loss.

Marist will travel to Brown for a non-conference matchup at 7 p.m. March 24. Marist is 3-0 in away contests this season.
