PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Despite scoring a season-high 15 goals, the Marist men's lacrosse team (5-3. 2-0 MAAC) fell at no. 13 Brown in a 16-15 offensive battle that was decided in overtime.

Senior Drew Nesmith (Montclair, N.J.) picked up his 100th career point with the first goal of the game for the Red Foxes at the 13:15 mark of the first quarter. He finished with a team-high four goals, while sophomore J.D. Recor (Lancaster, N.Y.) had four assists, one shy of his career high.

Marist overcame an early first quarter deficit to outscore the Bears in the next three quarters. Nesmith netted his final goal of the game with 2:53 left in regulation to tie the score for the second time in the fourth quarter. Brown junior Kylor Bellistri scored the game-winner on a man up opportunity with 2:46 left in overtime on a feed from senior Nick Piroli.

On the defensive end for Marist, senior Mike Begley (Brookeville, Md.) collected a career-high eight ground balls. Senior Patrick Eaker (Redding, Conn.) scooped up eight ground balls, tying his career high that he had previously set against Brown nearly one year ago to the day.

Brown led by as much as nine goals before the Red Foxes ended the first half on a 5-1 run capped by Begley's second goal of the game. Momentum continued to sway in the Red Foxes' favor in the third quarter as senior Colin Joka (Conshohocken, Pa.) scored all three of his goals to cut the Bears' lead to 12-10 heading into the fourth quarter.

After Brown sophomore Dylan Molloy scored his game-high eighth goal with 6:14 left in regulation, Marist responded with scores from junior Joseph Radin (Long Beach, N.Y.) and Nesmith to force the extra period.

Marist was 2-for-3 on the man up and 20-for-24 on clear attempts in the loss. Brown got half of its goals from Molloy and fired 63 shots in the contest.

The Red Foxes return to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play when they go up against Quinnipiac to cap a three-game road trip. Opening faceoff is slated for 12 p.m.
