Marist Football Announces Incoming Class for 2015 Season

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist head football coach Jim Parady announced the addition of 34 newcomers for the 2015 season on Thursday.

By position, the class includes eight offensive linemen, seven wide receivers, five linebackers, three safeties, three tight ends, three defensive linemen, two running backs, two defensive backs and one athlete.

The class includes players from nine different states: New Jersey (11), Maryland (eight), Pennsylvania (five), New York (three), Florida (three), Connecticut (one), Georgia (one), Massachusetts (one) and Ohio (one).

Here is a closer look at Marist's incoming class, with quotes from Coach Parady on each newcomer:

Nasir Bonner – Running Back – 5-10 / 185 – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania / Delaware Valley

“Nasir demonstrates everything we look for out of a running back. He is patient, has great vision, and runs with purpose and tenacity once he crosses the line of scrimmage. His speed and will to finish in the end zone make him a true game-changer.”

Donte Botts – Offensive Line – 6-2 / 290 – East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania / East Stroudsburg South

“Donte is a big body who plays aggressively along the offensive line. He has strong hands and a nasty punch. When he get his feet going, he can really control defenders, and drive them where he wants them to go.”

Juston Christian – Wide Receiver – 6-0 / 180 – Owings Mills, Maryland / Owings Mills

“Juston plays the receiver position with an over-the-top attitude. He competes for the ball in the air and once he catches it, it's off to the races. He will look to thrive in our vertical passing game, but also shows skill with underneath routes.”

Devin Cividni – Safety – 5-11 / 190 – Hillsdale, New Jersey / St. Joseph's Regional

“A versatile defensive back, Devin is the next in a long line of Red Foxes to come from St. Joseph Regional. Whether in zone or man coverage, he shows excellent ball skills, and takes pride in shutting down his opponent. Also, Devin can step up and play tough against the run.”

Lorenzo Cotrone – Wide Receiver – 5-10 / 165 – South Bellemore, New York / Holy Trinity

“Lorenzo brings a toughness to the pass game. He's willing to work the middle of the field, sell out as a blocker, and move the pile for that extra yard. He has a knack for making a play when you need him to.”

Patrick Crowe – Tight End – 6-3 / 230 – Middletown, New Jersey / Middletown South

“Patrick is a big, physical presence at the tight end position. He was hard-nosed defensive lineman in high school, and he brings that same attitude to the offensive side of the football. He is a tenacious blocker, but also shows skill and a desire to finish with the ball in his hands.”

Drew Daniel – Cornerback – 5-10 / 180 – Wharton, New Jersey / Pope John XXIII

“Drew is a dynamic addition to our defensive backfield. He covers a lot of ground in a hurry and drives on the football with purpose. Drew's speed and excellent change-of-direction also makes him a vicious tackler.”

Peter Delatour – Defensive Line – 6-0 / 225 – Miami, Florida / Columbus

“Another excellent South Florida product, Peter brings a dynamic edge to our seasoned group of defensive linemen. He shows great bend and an arsenal of pass rush moves, along with a motor that never shuts down. Peter recently competed for the champion Team USA in the IFAF Under-19 International Bowl at Cowboys Stadium in Texas.”

Melvin Forkpa – Tight End – 6-2 / 215 – Bensalem, Pennsylvania / Bensalem

“Versatility is key for our tight ends, and Melvin demonstrates just that. He can put his hand on the ground or split out to the slot, looking right at home either way. His good feet and soft hands at his size make him a dangerous offensive weapon.”

Eli Guzman – Linebacker – 5-11 / 210 – Morristown, New Jersey / Pope John XXIII

“Eli has many of the skills that we look for out of our linebackers. He has great instincts, coverage ability, and can pin his ears back to rush the passer. Once he makes his read, he takes off and tackles with authority.”

Kyle Hamrick – Tight End – 6-4 / 210 – Bel Air, Maryland / Bel Air

“Kyle could play several positions in our offense, as his skill set is extremely broad. He has tremendous route-running ability to go with excellent size and speed. We believe that he also has the toughness and grit to mix it up in the box as a well.”

Marcos Hilera – Offensive Line – 6-3 / 290 – Coral Springs, Florida / Coral Springs Charter

“Marcos has a good frame for an incoming offensive lineman. He has good feet, demonstrating the ability to pull and knock down defenders on the run. He also plays with an edge, and takes pride in finishing off his assignment.”

Antonio Hroncich – Linebacker – 6-2 / 225 – Ridgewood, New Jersey / Ridgewood

“Antonio brings good size and range to this group of incoming linebackers. He uses his hands very well when defeating blocks, something we really value in our defensive players. He has shown excellent ability to make plays both in space and at or behind the line of scrimmage.”

Louis Iovine – Offensive Line – 6-3 / 250 – Manalapan, New Jersey / St. John Vianney

“Louis is an intriguing addition to our offensive line. He plays with excellent leverage and tenacity, much of which can traced to his time as a tight end and fullback in high school. Because of this, his feet and quickness are also top-notch.”

Aaron Jackson – Offensive Line – 6-3 / 240 – Gambrillis, Maryland / Arundel

“Aaron has outstanding quickness and burst as an offensive linemen. He can regularly be seen making blocks down the field, and has good feet in pass protection. As he continues to grow and fill out, he can be a force up front.”

Jon Kanda – Wide Receiver – 6-4 / 190 – Clarksville, Maryland / River Hill

“Jon has the frame and stature to be an absolute monster on the perimeter. In addition, he complements his size with tremendous speed and quickness. His physical style of play and desire to score make him an excellent addition to our receiver corps.”

Andrew McElroy – Safety – 6-0 / 190 – New Milford, New Jersey / New Milford

“Primarily a linebacker in high school, Andrew projects as a safety in our defensive scheme. He is a rangy defender, and has shown to be effective both in and out of the box. Apart from his coverage and open-field tackling abilities, he has the tenacity to be an effective pass rush threat as well.”

Matt Millea – Wide Receiver – 6-1 / 195 – Cheshire, Connecticut / Avon Old Farms

“Yet another talented wideout in this coming recruiting class, Matt brings both skill and energy to the position. He has very good feet for a big body, showing ability to make tough catches in tight spaces. When he gets going, his competitive spirit really shows; he is a passionate player.”

Anthony Olivencia – Wide Receiver – 6-1 / 190 – Miami, Florida / Killian

“Coming from one of the nation's real recruiting hotspots, Anthony will bring in a fiery edge to the receiver position. He is a rangy target, and puts his body on the line to go after the football. Whether inside or outside, we are excited about his ability to stretch the field.”

Damola Orimolade – Offensive Line – 6-1 / 280 – Potomac, Maryland / The Bullis School

“Mo is a very polished offensive line product. He has excellent lower body strength and good feet, attacking the defense at both the first and second levels. Once he locks on to a defender, Mo is going to take him for a ride.”

Brandon Rawlins – Offensive Line – 6-3 / 285 – Wallkill, New York / Burke Catholic

“A local product from nearby Burke Catholic, Brandon has a good combination of size and athleticism. He has very good leg drive at the first level, and can really move defenders off the line of scrimmage. Brandon plays with some attitude, and takes pride in his work on the trenches.”

Jeromy Reichner – Defensive Line – 6-2 / 250 – Philadelphia, Pa. / West Catholic

“Jeromy is a yet another incoming Red Fox from the Greater-Philadelphia area. He is a tough matchup on the defensive line, with very good hands and extension to defeat blocks. He is active and moves very well laterally, something we value greatly at the position.”

Mike Sanchez – Linebacker – 6-0 / 220 – Maywood, New Jersey / Hackensack

“A fiery defensive presence, Mike provides a real spark through his style of play. He is relentless both in and out of the box, displaying well-rounded skills against the run and pass. He should fit well into the role we ask of our linebackers.”

Jordan Saunders – Wide Receiver – 6-1 / 180 – Kennesaw, Georgia / Kennesaw Mountain

“A Peach State-product, Jordan comes to Poughkeepsie as a talented wide receiver. He has a rare combination of size, speed, and physicality; he is dangerous with the ball in his hands. Jordan was also skilled on defense and special teams in his high school career; he is a classic 'do-it-all' football player.”

Blaise Spinelli – Linebacker – 5-11 / 230 – Wheatley Heights, New York / Half Hollow Hills East

“Blaise is a high-energy, intense competitor at the linebacker position. He is extremely active, always working to get in on the play. Blaise is feisty, using his smarts and savvy to make a number of plays in the backfield.”

Andrew Sutton – Offensive Line – 6-3 / 280 – Manville, New Jersey / Manville

“The first prospect out of his hometown in many years, Andrew is a hard-working offensive lineman. He made a great impression on us at last summer's camp, and he backed that performance up with a strong senior season. As a testament to this, he earned an All-State selection.”

Jake Taparausky – Athlete – 6-1 / 195 – Uxbridge, Massachusetts / Uxbridge

“Jake joins the Red Foxes out of Massachusetts, where he played both quarterback and free safety in high school. He attended our camp last summer, and impressed the coaching staff with his overall athletic ability. Regardless of position, he is a smart, tough player.”

Josh Taylor – Defensive Back – 6-0 / 170 – Jackson, New Jersey / St. John Vianney

“The second member of this class from St. John Vianney, Josh comes to as an intriguing cornerback prospect. He has great length, which he uses to blanket receivers and attack balls in the air. Speed is a big part of Josh's game, as he is also a state-class track & field sprinter and jumper.”

Troy Thompson – Safety – 6-1 / 210 – Port Monmouth, New Jersey / Middletown North

“Troy shows outstanding drive and effort on the defensive side of the football. He competes to always be in the passing lane and fights for footballs in the air. He works hard in pursuit and does not quit on the play.”

Boakum Vital – Linebacker – 5-11 / 230 – Leonardtown, Maryland / St. Mary's Ryken

“Boakum plays with tremendous hustle and heart. He is constantly working to pursue the football, always on the move. Once he locks in on the ball carrier, he arrives with force and makes his presence known.”

Isaiah Watson – Wide Receiver – 5-11 / 195 – Gambrillis, Maryland / Arundel

“Isaiah is a dynamic receiving threat through-and-through. He snatches the ball with his hands and wastes no time getting up the field. He shows continuous effort working to get open off the line of scrimmage, as he draws a lot of attention by the defense.”

Dymond Wright – Running Back – 5-9 / 170 – Collegeville, Pa. / Malvern Prep

“Dymond is an extremely versatile football player, excelling in all phases of the game. Originally a DB on our board, his knack as a runner and receiver was something we felt could be an explosive addition to our offense. In addition, his passion and energy on the field is truly contagious.”

Henry Yoboue – Offensive Line – 6-7 / 285 – Gaithersburg, Mayland / Gaithersburg

“Despite only having played football for two years, Henry possesses good natural ability and instinct as an offensive lineman. He has tremendous size to go with steadily-improving technique and skills. His potential is nearly limitless, as he is extremely athletic with excellent feet.”

Eddie Zinn – Defensive Line – 6-2 / 305 – Malvern, Ohio / Malvern

“Hailing from the Buckeye state, Eddie is a force on the defensive line. He eats up space with his big frame, but still maintains excellent quickness and get-off. Eddie's athletic ability speaks for itself, as he even spent some time as a running back in high school!”

The Marist football team is in the midst of Spring Practice, and will hold its annual Spring Game on Saturday, April 18 at 6 p.m. at Tenney Stadium. Admission is free and open to the public.
