RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Marist men's lacrosse team remained unbeaten in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play and earned the top seed in the postseason tournament with a 15-3 victory at Manhattan on April 18.
The Red Foxes extended their winning streak to five games and earned the right to host the MAAC Championships with an overall record of 10-3 and 5-0 in conference play. The MAAC Championship semifinals will take place April 30 with the final slated for May 2 at Tenney Stadium.
Junior Joseph Radin (Long Beach, N.Y.) netted a career-high seven goals. Three of his scores were assisted by sophomore J.D. Recor (Lancaster, N.Y.), who tied his career best with five helpers. Senior Colin Joka (Conshochocken, Pa.) matched his career high by collecting five ground balls.
With a 4-0 run in the first 8:24 , Marist was ahead the entire game. Radin and Joka accounted for all six Marist goals in the second quarter to help the Red Foxes jump out to a 10-2 lead at the half.
Manhattan (1-13, 0-5) was shut out in the third quarter and scored just once in the final frame. Seniors Michael Wiatrak and William Gerard tied for team highs with three ground balls apiece.
The Red Foxes' fired 55 shots while limiting the Jaspers to 18. The Marist defense tied a season-low with three goals allowed while its 32 ground balls was one shy of a season best. Senior Dave Scarcello (Buffalo, N.Y.) made six saves in between the pipes.
Marist will host local MAAC rival Siena on Senior NIght in its final regular season game. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. April 25. Matchups and times for all MAAC Championship contests are still to be determined.
