POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Marist men's lacrosse senior midfielder Mike Begley (Brookeville, Md.) was picked up by the Ohio Machine of Major League Lacrosse via the 2015 Undrafted College Player Pool. Inside Lacrosse announced the 14 undrafted selections Friday.
Begley is the second Red Fox to be selected by an MLL franchise and the first since Nick Armstrong was on the 40-man roster for the Denver Outlaws in 2012. Begley was on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List for a majority of the 2015 season and was named to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Star Second Team on June 1. He also earned United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division I All-American Honorable Mention.
In his four-year career in red and white, Begley amassed 112 points and collected 142 ground balls to become one of the most versatile midfielders in program history. He finished second on the team with 63 ground balls in 2015. He was selected to the All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference First Team for the second straight year and earned a spot on the MAAC All-Tournament Team.
Ohio currently sits in second place out of the eight MLL teams and has an overall record of 4-3 following its three-game winning streak. MLL squads must transition undrafted selections to the practice squad or active roster by noon June 8. Teams with a game tomorrow or Sunday are eligible to bring the new players in if they transition them to a position on the roster by noon tomorrow.
