POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - Marist men's lacrosse all-time leading scorer
Joseph Radin '16 was selected in the 10th round, 88thoverall, by the New York Lizards in the Major League Lacrosse Supplemental Draft on Dec. 14. The left handed attackman was one of 12 additions to the Lizards' roster today.
In January 2016 Radin became the program's first player to be chosen in the MLL Collegiate Draft when he was selected in the sixth round, 45th overall, by the Charlotte Hounds prior to the start of his senior season with the Red Foxes. He was the second Marist player to be named to an MLL roster. Nick Armstrong '11 was selected to the Denver Outlaws' 40-man roster in late 2012 via the Supplemental Draft.
Radin is atop the Marist record book with 166 career goals. He scored 51 in his senior year in 2016 for the second highest single-season total by a Red Fox and notched 60 points. He led the MAAC with 3.75 points per game and ranked fifth nationally in goals per game (3.19) and fourth in the country with 10 man up goals. At the conclusion of last season, Radin had the longest active scoring streak in the country (32 games) and was fifth in career points (213) and second in career goals among active players. He ended his collegiate career playing for the North squad in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-Star Game, which was led by Marist Head Coach Keegan Wilkinson and assistant coaches Mike Gongas and Ethan Fox.
In 2015 Radin led Marist to its first MAAC championship in a decade and first ever NCAA Tournament victory when the Red Foxes took down Bryant in front of a record crowd in Tenney Stadium. As a junior he broke the conference's single-season scoring record with 55 goals. He won back to back MAAC Offensive Player of the Year awards and was one of 50 players named to last year's initial Tewaaraton Award Watch List in February.
Radin also earned many off the field accolades, as he was the first Senior CLASS Award finalist to come out of Marist and a finalist for the Yeardley Reynolds Love Unsung Hero Award. He was voted a team captain his junior and senior years.
The Lizards finished 8-6 last season and made the postseason before falling to the eventual MLL champion Denver Outlaws in the semifinals.
