BOULDER, Colorado - In its second contest of a three-game road trip over five days, the Marist women's lacrosse team lost to Colorado, 19-4, on March 21. The Red Foxes are 3-5 in 2016 while the Buffaloes moved to 6-1 after a long layoff.

Senior Allison Gionta scored two goals to reach 201 points for her career and put herself in a tie with Pamela Brown for second most in program history. Gionta's first score of the game at the 19:18 mark of the second half gave her 200 career points and put her alongside only Brown and Lindsey Diener, who is in first place with 244 points.

Marist got its quickest score of the season when junior Olivia Pitonzo sprinted downfield at hit the back of the cage 12 seconds into the contest. The Buffaloes quieted the Red Foxes' offense the rest of first half, as Marist did not get on the board until Pitonzo fed Gionta for her 26th goal of the season. Senior Kara McHugh also netted a free position goal with just over seven minutes remaining in the game.

In goal the Red Foxes held a 7-5 edge in saves. Colorado fired 32 shots in the contest and had 10 caused turnovers on defense. Junior Johnna Fusco led the Buffaloes with four goals while classmate Marie Moore was Colorado's defensive standout with game highs of six draw controls, four ground balls and three caused turnovers.

The Red Foxes will take on Denver to end their western swing during spring break. Opening draw is at 2 p.m. EDT March 23.
