Each member institution of the MAAC honors one male and one female from its basketball “family” as part of the 2016 induction class. A dinner event will be on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Court of Dreams to recognize the Honor Roll inductees. Each honoree will be profiled in the game program for the 2017 MAAC Basketball Championships, and will also be featured in a video display at “The MAAC Experience.”
Alan Tomidy (1992-96)
Alan Tomidy was one of the top big men to ever suit up for the Red Foxes. A mainstay in the paint during the mid-1990s, Tomidy is the only player in program history to average a double-double in a season. In the 1995-96 campaign, he averaged 16.8 points and 11.3 rebounds per game as the Red Foxes set a then-school record with 22 wins and played in the Postseason NIT for the first time in program history. That year, Tomidy set single-season program records for rebounds per game, total rebounds (329), blocked shots (113), and free throws attempted (241), all of which remain 20 years after his graduation. On Feb. 8, 1996, Tomidy set single-game school records with 22 rebounds and 11 blocked shots against Long Island University, both of which still stand today. He finished his career with 1,508 points, 838 rebounds, and 267 blocked shots. He remains ranked in the program's career top 10 in 10 statistical categories.
Stacey (Dengler) Girard (1992-97)
Stacey Girard, known as Stacey Dengler in her playing career, is one of the top post players in Marist women's basketball history. She graduated as the program's all-time leading rebounder with 888, and its second all-time leading scorer with 1,481 points. Nearly 20 years after her graduation, Dengler remains ranked in the program's top 10 in eight statistical categories, including second in rebounds and fourth in points. In the 1995-96 season, Dengler became the first player in program history to average a double-double for an entire season. Her total of 318 rebounds and her average of 10.8 rebounds per game both stood as single-season program records until the 2015-16 campaign. Dengler also ranks among the program's all-time leaders in scoring average, field goals made, field goal percentage, free throws made, rebound average, and blocked shots.
