Robinson Scores Two In Red Foxes' Home Win

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Senior forward Brianna Robinson notched two goals and the Marist Women's Soccer team emerged victorious in its final home game of the 2017 season. The Red Foxes defeated Niagara by a final score of 2-1 in a Wednesday afternoon clash at Tenney Stadium.

With the win the Red Foxes have now won three-straight games and improve to 5-3-1 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play, 8-7-2 overall. Niagara falls to 4-4-1 in the MAAC, with an overall record of 6-8-2

SUMMARY
The Red Foxes got off to the races early, with Brianna Robinson scoring off an Alexa Svensson corner in the eighth minute of play. Sophie Connor would equalize for Niagara in the closing minutes of the first half, and the score would stay at 1-1 going into the second half.

In the 59th minute, it would be Robinson getting her name on the scoresheet once again, after a threaded ball by Hope Quinonez left Robinson with a 1-on-1 opportunity against the goalkeeper. Niagara had a couple of chances to equalize in the final minutes of the game, but the Red Foxes denied each chance and went on to clinch the 2-1 victory.
KEY HIGHLIGHTS
  • Svensson had an early corner opportunity for Marist, and after the ball bounced around in the box, it would find the back of the net via the foot of Brianna Robinson.
  • In the 39th minute, a heavy shot by Niagara's Sophie Connor would find the back of the net, after being mishandled by the keeper, equalizing the game at one.
  • A threaded ball by Hope Quinonez found an onside Robinson, who took a composed shot past Niagara goalkeeper Shania Van Nuland into the bottom right corner of the net, making the score 2-1.
