NEW HAVEN, Connecticut – Marist men's tennis team's senior captain
Rudolf Kurz picked up his 100
th career win Thursday afternoon at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) regional tournament held in New Haven, Connecticut. Kurz joins an exclusive list of Red Foxes to earn 100 career wins in their four years at Marist.
"We're very pleased to have watched Rudi's hundredth win," said head coach
Tim Smith. "We enjoyed seeing his excitement in the final point, he's been a warrior for us all four of the years that he's been here."
Kurz won his 100
th match by defeating Binghamton's Kushaan Nath in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. Kurz moves on to the round of 32 along with
Javier Restrepo who also won in straight sets, defeating UConn's Justin warren, 6-2, 6-3.
In doubles action, Kurz teamed up with
Christopher Gladden but fell to Dartmouth's Martin and Horneffer, 8-4. Restrepo and
Lars Schouten will team up in doubles tomorrow for the Red Foxes in the round of 32.
Kurz, Restrepo, and Schouten will all continue play for the Red Foxes on Friday, October 20
th looking to advance further at the ITA regional tournament.
