J.D. Recor To Remain With Men’s Lacrosse As Assistant Coach

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist's men's lacrosse program has added its all-time assists leader, J.D. Recor, to its coaching staff beginning in the 2018 season.

Recor graduated from Marist in 2017 atop the record books with 131 career assists, which is also the current Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference all-time record. As a senior he was 15th in the country, averaging 1.94 assists per game and ended up with 222 career points for the second highest total in Marist men's lacrosse history. In his final collegiate game Recor had a hat trick for the North squad in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association North/South All-Star Game. He became the second Marist player selected in the Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft when the New York Lizards picked him up in the ninth round, 79th overall.

Recor received multiple conference honors throughout his playing career, earning a spot on the All-MAAC First Team in 2016 and as an All-MAAC Second Team honoree his other three seasons in a Red Fox uniform.

"Our program could not be happier to have J.D. joining us as an assistant coach," Head Coach Keegan Wilkinson said. "J.D. is someone who I had targeted immediately to join us because of his high character, tremendous work ethic and competitive drive. These are things he displayed during his four year career at Marist on a daily basis. J.D. will be a tremendous addition to our staff and I know that he is excited to help us as we continue to build our great lacrosse program here at Marist."

The most recent recipient of the Marist men's lacrosse Scholar-Athlete Award, Recor was also the second Senior CLASS Award finalist to come out Marist after he had notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. He was named one of 55 USILA Scholar All-Americans in the nation after he owned a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale and was a USILA All-Star. At the 2017 Marist Athletics Senior Awards Banquet Recor was recognized as the top male student-athlete in his graduating class when he was named Male Sportsperson of the Year.

Recor received his bachelor's degree in sports communication from Marist in 2017.
