CHRISTIANBURG, Virginia - Junior Peter Gallino posted the second highest ranking in Marist men's diving history on the first of two days at the 2017 NCAA Zone Qualifier Diving Championships on March 6.
Just two days after being named Diver of the Meet at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships for the second straight year, Gallino placed 14th on the 1-meter board with a final score of 587.65 points at the NCAA meet. 39 divers competed in the 1-meter event at the national championships.
For the women junior Megan Berardelli finished 39th out of 55 competitors in the 3-meter dive after racking up 224.35 points.
Gallino and Berardelli will wrap up their third season with Marist on the second day of the NCAA Championships, which begin at 12 p.m. March 7. Gallino will dive off the 3-meter board while Berardelli will move down to the 1-meter event.
