POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - On Wednesday, Jan. 17, Marist assistant lacrosse coach and 2017 graduate
J.D. Recor was selected by the Charlotte Hounds with the 84
th pick in the Major League Lacrosse supplemental draft. The star attacker was one of 13 additions to the Hounds' roster today.
The Red Foxes have had a good history of having players drafted in the supplemental draft. Joseph Radin '16 was selected by the New York Lizards in 2016 and Nick Armstrong '11 was added to the Denver Outlaw's roster in 2012. Mike Begley '15 has played for the MLL's Boston Cannons each of the last two seasons.
Recor was a four-year starter for the Red Foxes. He holds the program record for all-time assists (131) and finished his career with 222 points. Recor was selected to the All-MAAC First Team in 2016 and All-MAAC Second Team in 2014, 2015 and 2017. Last season he finished 15
th in the nation in assists per game with 1.94 assists. Recor also helped lead the 2015 team to its first MAAC championship in a decade and first NCAA tournament victory in program history.
Recor also earned many off the field accolades, as he was a Senior CLASS Award finalist and selected as one of 55 USILA Scholar All-Americans. He was recognized as the top male student-athlete in his graduating class at Marist when he was named Male Sportsperson of the Year at last year's Senior Awards Banquet.
Following his final season at Marist, Recor was named a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-Star. He played in the 76
th annual USILA North-South All-Star game last year. Recor led the North squad to a 22-14 victory with a hat trick. Recor was drafted by the New York Lizards 79
th overall in the Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft in 2017. He was the second Marist player to be taken in the collegiate draft.
The Hounds went 6-8 last season and finished in seventh place in the league. Their first game of the season is against the Boston Cannons on April 21.
