Nationally-Ranked Buffalo Tops Marist

Williams, Funk Score 10; Herasme Grabs Career-High Seven Boards

BUFFALO, New York – The Marist men's basketball team was defeated 76-49 by #22/#25 Buffalo on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Arena.
 
Summary
  • Back-to-back three-pointers by red-shirt junior Aleksandar Dozic gave Marist a 6-4 lead at the 16:54 mark of the first half. A layup by freshman Matt Herasme two-and-a-half minutes later gave Marist a five-point lead, its largest of the game.
  • A three-pointer by Montell McRae with 8:43 left in the first half gave Buffalo a 14-13 advantage, and the Bulls stayed in front the remainder of the contest.
  • Buffalo closed the first half on an 18-5 run, and a three-pointer by C.J. Massinburg in the waning seconds gave the Bulls a 34-20 after the first 20 minutes.
  • Buffalo extended its lead to 23 midway through the second half, but Marist answered with an 8-0 run over a span of 3:37.

"From our standpoint, we just got flustered offensively because of their pressure and strength, with them being stronger and longer than us," head coach John Dunne said. "We needed to have good offensive possessions to have a chance. They just got too many easy baskets and got into a rhythm."
