POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The women's lacrosse begin their 2018 season this Saturday against Army at 11 a.m.

Season Review
The Red Foxes finished the season 10-9, falling to Fairfield in the semi-final round in the MAAC Championship. Marist has made the MAAC semifinal round six consecutive years. Junior Hayley Wagner tied for the most draw controls in the country in a single game last season when she won 21 against Quinnipiac on April 29 at Tenney Stadium.

MAAC Recognition
Junior
Hailey Wagner was named to the preseason All-MAAC team. Marist was picked to finish third in the conference, behind Canisius and Fairfield.

Farewells
Women's lacrosse graduated five seniors last season. Marist lost one of the best goalies in program history in Abigal Witczak who earned MAAC Goalie of the year last season. She sat atop the conference with 205 saves which was also good for third in the nation. The Red Foxes also lost
Olivia Pitonzo who was a MAAC first team selection after leading the conference in scoring.

Returning Talent
Wagner goes into her junior season holding several program records. She has the record for single season draw controls (136), single game draw control (21) and is second in career draw controls 198). Junior captain
Gabby Childrose was an All-MAAC second team selection last season, leading the team with 20 caused turnovers.Â

Julia Luff look to build off a freshman season where they earned MAAC All-Rookie selection.

Fresh Faces
The Red Foxes add eleven freshman to the program, the largest class under Head Coach Jessica Wilkinson's tenure. The class will provide immediate depth for the Red Foxes. Marist also welcomes
Kristin Boland as an Assistant Coach. Previously she coached for JAB Lacrosse in Virginia.

Scouting Army
Army went 5-12 last season and 1-8 during patriot league play. The Red Foxes opened their season against Army last season as well, falling to the Minutemen 13-12. Senior captain Kiersten Spencer was named to the Preseason All-Patriot League team.
