POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Sophomore Ali Milam and freshman Caroline Baratta of the Marist softball team were both honored by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference on Tuesday. Milam was named the conference's Player of the Week, and Baratta was tabbed Rookie of the Week.
 
Ali Milam – Past Week

• .458 batting average (11-for-24), .536 on-base percentage, and .833 slugging percentage to go along with two home runs and eight RBIs.
• Four two-hit games.
• In an extra-inning win over Houston Baptist on March 14, Milam drove in five of the Red Foxes' six runs, including a three-run homer and the game-winning RBI in the ninth inning.
• Pair of two-hit games over the weekend against UConn in the Reveille Classic.
• On the tournament's final day, Milam homered and walked against #7/#9 Texas A&M.
• Added three walks and a stolen base, and was flawless in the field in 12 chances.

 
Caroline Baratta – Past Week

• Hit .357 with 10 hits in Marist's eight games, and had a .406 on-base percentage.
• Hit safely in her last six games of the week, which included four contests with two hits apiece.
• In two games against Texas A&M, she went a combined 3-for-5 with two walks.
• Added four runs scored, two RBIs, three walks, a double, and a sacrifice fly.
• 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts.
• Played every inning at shortstop, and handled 34 field chances (20 assists, 14 putouts) successfully without committing an error.

 
On the season, Milam (.403) and Baratta (.367) rank first and second on the team in batting average. Milam also leads the Red Foxes with three homers and 17 RBIs. Baratta is currently 54^th in the nation in toughest to strike out, as she has gone down on strikes just three times in 79 official at-bats this season.
 
This is the second weekly award in the careers of both Milam and Baratta. It is Milam's first Player of the Week honor, as she was named the conference's Rookie of the Week once last season. Baratta was named MAAC Rookie of the Week on Feb. 27.
 
Marist has now earned five MAAC weekly awards this season. Here are the previous three:

Marist (8-15) returns to action this weekend at the Homewood Suites by Hilton RDU/RTP Challenge in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Red Foxes will play five games in three days from Friday through Sunday against North Carolina State, Kennesaw State, and MAAC foe Niagara.
