DeSerpa Leads Marist to a Sweep of Saint Peter's

The Junior Had 18 Kills in Three Sets

JERSEY CITY, New Jersey – The Red Foxes bounced back from their first Metro Atlantic Conference loss Wednesday to take a 3-0 victory over Saint Peter's. Nikki DeSerpa came up clutch throughout the match, landing a string of kills to close sets one and three. The junior finished with 18 kills.

SUMMARY
Marist started the first set slow, falling behind 13-7. A couple of kills and errors in the Red Foxes' favor made it a one-point set at 13-12. The set remained close the rest of the way until DeSerpa rattled off four consecutive kills to take the 25-22 win.

Saint Peters took another early lead in set two but allowed Marist to stay in it thanks to errors on their part. A service ace from Madelyn Waumans gave Marist its first lead at 10-9. Neither team would be able to take any command of the match until a Peacock service error gave the ball back to Marist to serve at 23-21. Kills from Megan Fergus and DeSerpa closed the set at 25-22.

The Red Foxes started set three down but used a 5-0 run to take a 7-5 lead. The two teams remained even up until it reached 19 all and the Red Foxes scored six unanswered points. DeSerpa had four kills during that run.
