RIVERDALE, New York – The Marist men's basketball team defeated Manhattan, 62-46, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference at Draddy Gymnasium on Monday night. The Red Foxes led wire-to-wire in the contest.

- Freshman point guard Darius Hines drained a jumper on the game's first possession, and Marist did not surrender the lead the rest of the way. Senior guard David Knudsen followed with a pair of three-pointers as Marist jumped out to an 8-2 lead.
- A three-point play by Samson Usilo cut Marist's lead to three, but the Red Foxes built their lead back up to eight on a driving layup by sophomore guard Austin Williams and three-pointer by Knudsen on back-to-back possessions as Marist took a 17-9 lead at the 12:12 mark.
- Manhattan got back within three at the 1:54 mark of the first half on a jumper by Elijah Buchanan. Marist scored the last four points of the first half on two free throws apiece by Williams and senior guard Brian Parker. The Red Foxed led at the intermission, 30-23.
- With 12:24 left in the second half, a layup by Usilo brought Manhattan within 37-31. The Red Foxes answered with scores on their next three possessions: a right wing three-pointer by senior forward Isaiah Lamb, a steal and then layup by freshman guard Matt Herasme (set up with an assist from Williams), and two free throws from Hines.
- After a 4-0 spurt by the Jaspers, Knudsen hit a jumper in the lane and a long-three pointer on back-to-back possessions to put Marist up 14 with 7:51 to play. The Red Foxes led by double digits the rest of the way, with their lead swelling to as much as 18.

- Knudsen led all scorers with 21 points. He was joined in double figures by Hines (11 points), Parker (10 points), and Williams (10 points).
- Knudsen had junior center Tobias Sjoberg each had a team-high six rebounds.
- Sjoberg blocked three shots, while freshman center Luke Nedrow added two blocks.
- Marist held Manhattan to 15-for-44 (.341) shooting from the field and 3-for-12 (.250) shooting from three-point range.
- Marist held a 34-27 edge in rebounds.
- Warren Williams led Manhattan with 12 points.

- Marist completed its first regular-season sweep of Manhattan since the 2000-01 season.
- Marist had its lowest point total allowed since permitting 33 against Vanderbilt in the AdvoCare Invitational on Nov. 23, 2012.
- Marist has won in three of its last four trips to Draddy Gymnasium. Prior to that, the Red Foxes had won at Manhattan once in the last 14 years.
- Marist is 5-1 this season when at least four Red Foxes score in double digits.
- Marist has held the opposition under 40 percent from the field five times this season, and has won all five games.
- Season highs:  Hines – free throws made (seven) and attempted (nine), rebounds (three – tied); Sjoberg – blocks (three), rebounds (six – tied); Nedrow – blocks (two – tied), steals (one – tied); Williams – points (10 – tied), free throws made (six) and attempted (eight); Knudsen – points (21), rebounds (six), three-pointers made (five – tied), field goals made (seven) and attempted (12).

"I thought we did a nice job of not giving them easy baskets," said Marist head coach
John Dunne, who cited the play of Sjoberg as a major reason why. "For the most part I thought we had really good poise."

- Marist is now 7-11 overall and 2-4 in MAAC play.
- Manhattan is 4-15 on the season and 2-5 in the MAAC.
