WEST POINT, New York / PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania – Marist Tennis closed out its time at the ITA Northeast Regionals on Friday in the women's (hosted at Army) and men's (hosted by UPenn) side. Marist had four competitors – junior captains Sam Galu and Julia Gabay for the women, and the duo of senior Lars Schouten and junior Nestor Giribet-Lopez on the men.
 

WOMEN'S RESULTS

• In the doubles main draw, Gabay and Galu fell to the 3-4 ranked Columbia team of Akanksha Bhan and Paulina Ferrari 8-6.
• Gabay squared off against Sophia Reddy of Brown in the singles main draw, falling 6-3, 6-1.

 

MEN'S RESULTS

• On Thursday, Giribet Lopez made his Marist ITA debut. Army's Nathan Jose bested the junior transfer 6-2, 6-2 in the qualifiers.
• Schouten competed in the singles main draw on Friday against Dartmouth's Anders Gibbons. After the senior secured the first set, Gibbons took the match 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
• In the doubles main draw, Schouten and Giribet Lopez were defeated by Monmouth's Max Benaim and Sergio Martinez 8-2.

 

UP NEXT

• The women take their winter break to prepare for the spring. Marist is 2-0 in the MAAC, with wins against Monmouth and Rider under its belt.
• The men are off for two weeks before spending their fall finale at the West Point Invite from Friday, November 1 to Sunday, November 3.
