POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - After an intense battle, Marist men's soccer (6-7, 3-3 MAAC) fell to MAAC leader Saint Peter's (9-5, 6-1 MAAC) by a score of 3-2 in overtime.
Huib Achterkamp scored twice to keep the Red Foxes in the game, while
Allen Gavilanes ascended the record books with his 20th career assist.

- Both teams tallied two shots in the first 15 minutes, but neither had a significant opportunity.
- The stalemate continued through the end of the half as both defenses held strong.
- After 45 minutes, Marist had the advantage in shots 7-6 and shots on goal 3-2, while each team tallied a corner kick.
- In the 50th minute, Marist was issued a Red Card which caused Saint Peter's to go up a man on the field.
- Nine minutes later, the Peacocks' Omar Seghiri scored on an assist from Jamie Davis.
- Saint Peter's went up 2-0 in the 67th minute with a goal from Dominic Laws, also assisted by Davis.
- Marist cut the deficit to one when Huib Achterkamp headed in a free kick from Allen Gavilanes in the 72nd minute.
- Six minutes later, Stefan Copetti drew a foul in the penalty box and Achterkamp scored the penalty kick to tie the game.
- The game was plunged into overtime as both teams fought with fast-paced offenses.
- Jordan Jowers found Laws ahead of the Marist defense for the golden goal in the 95th minute, and the Peacocks escaped Tenney stadium with a win.
- Saint Peter's had the advantage in shots 21-18, and shots on goal 9-7.
- Samuel Ilin made six saves in the net while Peacock goalkeeper Herman Wulff collected five.
- Eight Red Foxes recorded a shot, and six recorded a shot on goal.
- Marist played 45 minutes down a man on the field, scoring both their goals in that time.
- Achterkamp is the first Red Fox to score multiple goals in a game this year.
- He is now 4-for-4 on penalty kicks, and leads Marist in scoring with five goals.
- Gavilanes ranks fourth all-time at Marist with 20 career assists. With one more, he will tie Tim Trotta (1971-75) for third.
