Outlook
This year's version of the Red Foxes will have a vastly different look from last season.

John Dunne's second season as head coach will feature 10 new faces – three transfers who will play after sitting out last season, two immediately eligible junior college transfers, four true freshmen, and one transfer who will sit out this season.

The Red Foxes welcome six players back from last season, three of whom either started or earned significant playing time.

Returners

Tobias Sjoberg is the lone senior on this year's team. A 6-foot-9 center from Sweden, Sjoberg has made 76 career starts and has established himself as a physical presence in the paint. He is an efficient offensive performer who has a career .595 field goal percentage. He is also just four blocked shots away from entering the top 10 on the program's all-time list.

Darius Hines provided stability at the point guard position as a freshman last season. He appeared in all 31 of the Red Foxes' games, and started 29 of them. Hines averaged 6.7 points per game, tied for the team lead in steals, shot .349 from three-point range, and .824 from the free-throw line. He was named to the All-Tournament Team in the Samson Bracket of the Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic.

Matt Herasme saw significant playing time last season, and will look to build on that in his sophomore season. The 6-foot-3 guard quickly endeared himself to the coaching staff and fans for his effort and tenacious defensive play. He appeared in all 31 games off the bench last season, averaging 3.1 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.

The Red Foxes have three walk-on guards who will be juniors this season: Ryan Carmello, Tucker Lee, and Michael Servetas. Carmello appeared in 10 games last season, and converted all three of his field goal attempts. Lee and Servetas played in seven and three games last year, respectively.

Newcomers

Michael Cubbage red-shirted last season after transferring from Paris Junior College in Texas, but will have two seasons of eligibility remaining starting this year. A native of Winslow, New Jersey, Cubbage's athleticism and play-making ability will allow him to immediately compete for playing time at the point guard position.

Jordan Jones served his NCAA-mandated year in residency last year after transferring from Charleston Southern, and will also have two years of eligibility with the Red Foxes. At 6-foot-8, Jones gives the Red Foxes an athletic presence in the post who is a force around the rim. In the 2017-18 season, he averaged 1.2 blocked shots in just over 15 minutes per game, and shot .735 from the field.

Matt Turner also sat out last season, as he served his year in residency after transferring from Santa Clara. A 6-foot-3 guard, Turner will have three seasons of eligibility remaining beginning in 2019-20. As a freshman at Santa Clara, he shot 34 percent from three-point range and had an assist-to-turnover ratio of nearly 2-to-1. He will immediately compete for minutes in the backcourt.

A 6-foot-8 native of England, Zion Tordoff comes to Marist after playing the last two seasons at Casper College in Wyoming. A junior, Tordoff will have two years of eligibility with the Red Foxes. He has the ability to defend, rebound, and score around the rim. Tordoff shot over 60 percent last season, and will immediately compete for minutes in the frontcourt.

Braden Bell, a 6-foot-7 sophomore forward, joins the Red Foxes with three years of eligibility after transferring from Ranger College. Bell will be eligible to play this season, and will be competing for time in the frontcourt. Bell shot 53 percent from the field, 38 percent from three-point range, and 73 percent from the free-throw line last season, and has a good feel for the game.

Jack Cavanaugh is a 6-foot-4 freshman guard from Sparta, New Jersey. He displays a solid all-around game, and averaged 14 points, seven assists, and five rebounds per game as a senior. He was a four-year All-County & All-League selection in high school who is known for having a high basketball IQ, good shooting ability, and good passing ability.

Tyler Sagl is a 6-foot-5 freshman guard from Toronto. Sagl is known as a pure shooter who averaged over 26 points per game in his senior year of high school. A prolific scorer, Sagl averaged over 40 points per game in a three-game span just prior to his verbal commitment to Marist. He is known as a gym rat, and give the Red Foxes good size at the guard position.

Henry Makeny is a 6-foot-7 freshman forward originally from Australia who played scholastically at Blair Academy in New Jersey. With a long wingspan and 41-inch vertical leap, Makeny brings athleticism to the table. He is also highly regarded as a rebounder and defender. His high school coach, Joseph Mantegna, referred to him as the program's best defender since Royal Ivey, who played 11 years in the NBA.

Tyler Saint-Furcy is a 6-foot-4 freshman guard from Inwood, New York. Known his athleticism, passing ability, and scoring prowess, Saint-Furcy averaged 17 points, seven rebounds, and five assists per game as a high school senior as his team reached the Class B Federation semifinal round. Saint-Furcy attacks with fearlessness on the offensive end.

Victor Enoh will sit out this season after transferring from the University of Memphis, but will have two seasons of eligibility remaining beginning in 2020-21. Enoh is a 6-foot-7 center who will provide toughness, good rebounding ability, and defensive prowess.

Coaching Staff

The entire Marist coaching staff remains intact from last year. Dunne is now in his 14th season as a collegiate head coach. Assistant coach Serge Clement has now worked with Dunne for seven straight seasons, dating back to their time at Saint Peter's. Assistant coach Kevin Driscoll had previously worked at three Division I schools before coming to Marist. Assistant coach Dalip Bhatia had worked for Dunne in two separate stints at Saint Peter's. Director of Operations Dorian Long has a dozen years of collegiate experience as a coach and director of operations.

Schedule
Marist will have nine non-conference games this season. The Red Foxes open their season on Friday, Nov. 8 at VMI. Their next game will be their home opener against Hartford on Tuesday, Nov. 12. Marist will also have non-conference home games against The Citadel (Saturday, Nov. 23), Army West Point (Saturday, Nov. 30), and New Hampshire (Wednesday, Dec. 18). The regular season concludes at home against Canisius on Wednesday, March 4.
