POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist men's and women's track and field programs have announced their 2019-20 schedules on Monday morning. The Red Foxes are coming off of successful cross country campaigns, and are now prepared to hit the track for the indoor season beginning Friday, December 6.
The teams head to Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex for three straight meets to start the season, beginning with the Fastrack Season Opener. In January they return for the Spartan Invite hosted by Saint Thomas Aquinas College, and the annual Gotham Cup. Marist comes to Staten Island again on January 31 for the Metropolitan Championships, and February 28 for the Fastrack Last Chance Invitational.Â
The Red Foxes attend four competitions hosted by Boston University as well. On January 24-25, Marist takes part in the John Thomas Terrier Invitational. On February 14-15, the teams return for the prestigious David Hemery Valentine Invitational. All competitors have the chance to attend the Last Chance Qualifier on February 24, and then finally, qualified athletes will compete in the IC4A/ECAC Indoor Championships on March 7-8.
The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, held at the NYC Armory, are set to take place on February 22-23. In the 2018-19 season, the men and women each finished sixth overall and they hope to outdo that performance in 2020.
The Red Foxes travel all across the east in the outdoor season, attending meets in New Jersey, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York and Connecticut. The Monmouth Season Opener takes place on March 28, followed by the William & Mary Colonial Relays in early April, the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic on April 10-11, the Princeton Larry Ellis Invitational on April 17 and the Stony Brook Wolfie Invitational on April 18.Â
Marist will once again take part in the illustrious Penn Relays on April 23-24, attended by over 15,000 athletes annually. The Red Foxes will follow this up with the Yale Invitational on April 26 as a final tune-up before the MAAC Outdoor Championships in early May, the culmination of their work throughout the season.
Athletes who have reached qualifying standards to this point return to Princeton for the IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Championships on May 16-17. The top 48 competitors for each event in the east will qualify for the NCAA East Regionals hosted by Kentucky on May 28-30.Â
Marist's racewalkers have qualified for the USA Olympic Trials, and will travel to Eugene, Oregon in late June for a chance to represent the nation.
